The World Ocean Council (WOC) – the international, multi-sector business alliance for Corporate Ocean Responsibility – is looking for a Programmes Director to join our leadership team.

Based in Barcelona, Spain (with hybrid/remote flexibility), this senior role will drive WOC’s global programme portfolio across themes such as:

🌊 Smart Ocean

🌡️ Climate & Marine Biodiversity

📜 Policy & Planning

As Programmes Director, you will:

Lead WOC’s global programme design, partnerships, and impact delivery, aligned with our mission to accelerate action for ocean sustainability.
Develop and oversee strategic partnerships, grants, and donor pipelines to fund and scale WOC programmes.
Manage cross-cutting collaborations with corporations, governments, and innovation ecosystems worldwide.
Represent WOC at major international events, policy discussions, and industry platforms.
Supervise programme consultants and interns, and work closely with the WOC leadership on strategic planning and delivery.

This role reports directly to the CEO and works collaboratively with the Operations, Communications, and External Affairs teams.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR:

10+ years of professional experience in sustainability, blue economy, or ocean-related fields
Proven record in programme management, partnership development, and fundraising (e.g. EU grants, corporate donors, or international development agencies)
Strategic, entrepreneurial, and results-oriented mindset
Excellent communication and leadership skills
English fluency (Spanish proficiency strongly preferred; Catalan a plus)
Willingness to be based in or regularly travel to Barcelona
